Term Meaning
Pair Any of the seven two-ball combinations that sum to 16.
Partner ball The second ball in a pair.
Rogue ball A ball whose partner is no longer on the table.
Pending partner The partner ball to any legally pocketed ball that wasn't called, i.e. on the break or additional balls in a called shot.
Target ball The partner ball to the current in-process pair.
At-risk ball Rogue balls pocketed in the middle of a pair are designated at-risk. Any points for pocketing them will be awarded to the shooter's opponent if the target ball is not legally pocketed.
Rogue field This term indicates that all balls on the table are rogue (with the exception of the eight-ball, if present).
